Cross Keys, Engine Common was reported as now open as usual by John Gatty.
There is still no confirmed date (although there are rumours of April) for the opening of a new pub in Thornbury High Street (owned by Pete Tiley and formerly the Mogul Indian Restaurant).
A suggestion was made by John Gatty to ask Pete if he is interested in a "naming competiton" for the pub .
A "Pop up" pub on Thornbury High Street – run by Pete Tiley of the Salutation, Ham - was attended by several CAMRA members on 10/11 February with good reports from all.
Good pint of Ringwood Forty Niner in The Malt House was reported by Steve Beckwith.
The Wheatsheaf, Thornbury was confirmed as not being up for sale but the lease is.
Sandra Davies – licensee of the Swan, Thornbury, is no longer the licensee of the Cross Hands in Alveston. Beers at the Cross Hands were Doom Bar, Otter and 2 other handpumps not in use.
There is a new brewery in Oldbury On Severn (Cocksure) which is a 6 barrel brewery. 3 brews have been made already and were available in the Drapers Arms and Royal Naval Volunteer on 16/02/17.
A hospitality area is planned for ad-hoc events.
Pete Tiley (The Salutation, Ham) has now taken on a full time brewer.
Martin circulated campaigning information on "Definition of a Pub - Proposed Changes", "Community Pubs Month - April 2017", "Volunteers Week" and "Likely Acquisition of the Punch Pub Company".
A new LOCALE sticker has been launched by CAMRA.
There is a new forum called CAMRA "Discourse" rather than using Yahoo Groups (www.discourse.camra.org.uk).
ACV's - Bristol CAMRA branch have requested a meeting with South Gloucestershire council regarding their response to ACV applications. Suggested date is March.
The Horseshoe (Chipping Sodbury), second Friday of the month and The Old Spot, Dursley, fourth Friday of the month. Contact John Gatty for details.
A tour to Bespoke Brewery was mooted.
Chris Whitbread suggested letting all SV CAMRA members know who is going to the Bristol Beer Festival and to what sessions in case people want to meet up.
Severn Vale Beer Festival
Chris Whitbread has gathered a lot of information on holding a beer festival. Initial aims are raising profile of CAMRA in the SV area and recruiting new (and young) members.
Volunteers to help organise (Organising Group) included Martin, Andrew, Steve and John but if anyone else is interested then contact Chris.
Warwick University Real Ale Festival 16-18 February.
CAMRA National Winter Ales Festival, Norwich 21-25 February.
Wigan Beer Festival 2-4 March 2017.
Bristol Beer Festival 23-25 March 2017.
Volunteers are also wanted by CAMRA to staff the festival.
