Severn Vale Beer Festival


Chris Whitbread was proposed by Martin and seconded by Mark to chair the a Beer Festival organising committee. The Wheatsheaf was mentioned as a potential venue.

Pub News


Good reports of The Swan in Tytherington.


Knot of Rope, Thornbury has re-opened (again) and is only serving one beer currently but it was reported that there will be 4 on in the New Year.


Poor beer quality in the Swan, Thornbury and The Cross Hands at Alveston was reported


The Royal George, Thornbury is now Cask Marque accredited and beer selection was reported as being good, although prices were high for the area and serving temperature way too cold.


The Wheatsheaf now offers a 20p a pint CAMRA member's discount (not valid in happy hour)


The publican of the Salutation at Ham has made an offer for the premises of the Mogul (former Indian restaurant on Thornbury High Street).


As a result of recent changes, f ormal pub surveys are required for:

                The White Lion/Mezze

                Royal George

                Knot of Rope

                Old Down Sports and Social

Laura and Chris volunteered to carry them out.


The owner of the White Horse at Northwick was reported as losing interest in running the business as a pub


Brewery News


Salutation next brew session will be Saturday 26th November (Stroud Brewery).


There is a new brewery under development in Oldbury On Severn (Cocksure) and will be a 6 barrel brewery. Hoping to begin brewing before end Nov 2016, pending HMRC licence.




Bristol CAMRA Yahoo Group is best way to stay in contact with Bristol branch but requires registering with Yahoo and then Yahoo groups. Need to subscribe to "CAMRABristolNews".


Bristol are running an "Explorer" trip to Severn Vale area on Wed 7th December.

Laura Whitbread volunteered to be social secretary for the sub branch and organise a Christmas get together (possibly at the Anchor, Morton).
